This instrument is purpose-built for players seeking unparalleled performance and attitude.
EMG Humbuckers for Aggressive Tone and Harmonic Clarity
The Phil Demmel King V is powered by a set of active EMG pickups, delivering the searing tones and tight response that define modern metal. The bridge-position EMG 81 humbucker offers high-output aggression with focused lows and cutting highs, ideal for precise riffs and powerful solos. Complementing this is the EMG 60 neck pickup, known for its smooth, articulate cleans and rich sustain. A three-way toggle switch and dual independent volume controls provide seamless control over your sound, whether you’re shifting between crushing rhythms or melodic lead passages. This pickup configuration ensures clarity and punch, even in the most demanding band mixes.
Floyd Rose Tremolo for Expressive Playing and Tuning Stability
This signature King V features a Floyd Rose FRT-O2000 double-locking tremolo system, offering exceptional tuning stability and dynamic pitch control. The recessed bridge design allows for expressive dive bombs, pitch shifts and subtle vibrato effects without compromising intonation. A locking nut ensures your strings stay in tune through aggressive playing, while the precision-engineered bridge saddles provide optimal sustain and resonance. Whether you’re performing rapid tremolo flutters or soaring harmonic squeals, this bridge system delivers reliable performance and expressive potential for every playing style.
Compound-Radius Ebony Fingerboard for Speed and Comfort
The King V’s compound-radius ebony fingerboard is designed to accommodate fast and technical playing. Its 12″ radius at the nut offers comfortable chording and rhythm work, while the 16″ radius at the upper frets provides a flat and smooth surface for effortless soloing. Jumbo frets enhance control and precision, making intricate techniques like sweeping and tapping feel natural. The pearloid sharkfin inlays not only add iconic Jackson style but also provide clear visual cues for navigating the fretboard. These thoughtful design elements ensure fluid playability across the entire neck.
Neck-Through Construction for Maximum Sustain
The King V’s neck-through-body construction combines a mahogany body with a three-piece maple neck, reinforced with graphite rods for added durability. This design enhances sustain, allowing notes to ring out with clarity and depth, even during extended solos or heavy rhythm work. The gloss finish on the neck provides a smooth playing surface, while the dual-action truss rod ensures precise adjustments for optimal neck relief. Built to withstand the rigors of touring and intense practice sessions, this construction delivers unmatched reliability and tonal consistency.
