Full View Full Choose the right string for youMany string makers put a lot of care and thought into thematerials for their strings and Larsen is no exception. The steelin the core of all the strings allows for a superior level ofprojection and durability than any gut string can provide. Thesingle steel core of the A and D strings provides the brightest andmost projective sound of the set, perfect for the higher strings. The core of the G and C strings consists of a concentricmulti-stranded steel core. This adds more durability and warmth tothe lower strings of the set.The winding of the strings is also of tantamount importance. Theprecision rolled stainless steel, like which is seen on the violastrings by Larsen, provides further brightness and durability whilealso being resistant to corrosion. The lower strings are wound withtungsten, a material with a much warmer and more focussed tonalquality than steel which is much more appropriate for the lowerstrings.Larsen offers their cello strings in three tensions so you canpick the ideal tension for your instrument and playing style. Thelighter tensions are most appealing to players who prefer a quickerresponse to a bow and a lesser amount of pressure needed to stopthe strings. The heavy tension is great for extra power and volume,it just needs more effort to bow.For their cello sets, Larsen also offers an additional E-stringwhich can be bought as a single string in medium tension. Thissteel-cored string is wound with a flat aluminium wire in a verysimilar manner to the violin strings from Larsen. This string isdesigned for five-string cellos and can deliver the brightestsounds possible for such a high string.Soloist EditionIf you want the ultimate level of performance for soloisticplaying. Then the Larsen Soloist Edition cello strings are theperfect option for you. These strings are made to a slightlydifferent dimension to the standard Larsen cello strings andtherefore have slightly different properties as a result. The Cstring is omitted from the soloist edition, the colour andprojection of the normal set is already perfectly capable of thewarm low end.The remaining three strings feature a solid steel core that wasnormally reserved for the A string. This allows the brightness andprojection that the original A-string has to be shared with theother strings. Much like the originals, the winding of the A and Dstrings is precision rolled stainless steel and the G string iswound with tungsten. The strings’ thinner diameter and slightlyheavier tensions provide that extra lift to dynamics, brightnessand projection that an excellent set of solo strings require forbreathtaking performances.Larsen StringsLarsen began in 1990 when Laurits Th. Larsen was tasked withobtaining 300 strings for a colleague. Larsen decided to make thestrings himself in his garage. In 18 months his first cello Astring was produced. Since then, Larsen has expanded, producingstrings for violin, viola, and cello. Larsen provides their stringsin a packaged envelope like many strings. What sets Larsen apart isthat they are embossed and sealed in their envelopes, ensuring theauthenticity and quality of each string from Larsen. What’s at ?Full size strings:LightAString, LightDString, LightGString, LightCString, LightMediumEString, MediumAString, MediumDString, MediumGString, MediumCString, MediumHeavyAString, HeavyDString, HeavyGString, HeavyCString, HeavySoloist Edition Strings:LightAString, LightDString, LightGString, LightMediumAString, MediumDString, MediumGString, MediumHeavyAString, HeavyDString, HeavyGString, Heavy3/4 Size Strings: MediumAString, MediumDString, MediumGString, MediumCString, Medium1/2 Size Strings: MediumAString, MediumDString, MediumGString, MediumCString, Medium1/4 Size Strings: MediumAString, MediumDString, MediumGString, MediumCString, Medium1/8 Size Strings: MediumAString, MediumDString, MediumGString, MediumCString, MediumSpecificationsSize: 4/4Note: DCore: Solid steelWinding/plating: Rolled stainless steel flat wireTension: Medium – 13.9kgEnd type: Ball endLarsen Cello D String, 4/4 Size, Medium at
