Comments: I recently saw Justin Faulkner performing with Branford Marsalis earlier this summer. I was amazed by his creative drumming, but also his technique. After some explorations on Google, I read an interview with Faulkner about his development as a drummer. During the interview, he mentioned “Developing Dexterity,” which I had never heard of. Ordered the book, and I am very impressed. Its range of exercises encompass more than one can find in, say, “Stick Control.” There are sections on flams, rolls, doubles, paradiddles, etc., with all the variations. They are all short sections one practices, beginning with the right, then the left. I can’t think of a better book for a drummer looking to keep in shape with his/her hands. Thanks, Justin!
