This is an excellent sounding drum head. I’m not a professional, but this fits with my needs and my drum set. I have always liked the quality of Remo products. By reading thewas able to decide which head I thought would work. It works perfectly. Excellent drum head and great price. For that reason, I decided to give these heads a try on my toms. They have a sound that’s somewhere between clear and coated. They have more attack than coated, and are slightly more open, but they are warmer than clear. I think I still prefer the sound of coated, but I don’t feel compelled to switch these out right away.The texture is very fine – it’s finer than the texture coating of Evans heads, which is noticeably finer than Remo’s coating. I was considering putting them on my snares, but tonal concerns aside, I’m not convinced the fine texture is adequate for brushes.tl;dr Excellent “compromise” sound for toms, but I’m unsure for snares, especially if you play brushes.
